You may have seen in the news recently that calls to the British Heart Foundation’s Heart Helpline have increased by a massive 500% after the charity started promoting its new 03 phone number in its advertising.
Similarly, Comic Relief this year raised a record amount of cash – £57.8m – 43% more than its previous best in 2007 (£40.5m) - even in the current economic climate. Again, the charityused an 03 number as its main appeal line.
So what’s so special about 03 numbers and how do they increase the amount of calls that organisations receive?
Here are 5 reasons
1. 03 phone numbers (http://www.windsor-telecom.co.uk/03-numbers.php) are trusted by the public.
They cost exactly the same to call as regular landline numbers, even from a mobile phone. This means they are ethical phone numbers and are not subject to any negative publicity.2. 03 numbers are mobile friendly.
40% of all UK calls are now made from mobiles according to Ofcom. Because 03 numbers are also included in mobile users’ free minutes – they can call charities for free and make a donation.3. 03 numbers (http://www.windsor-telecom.co.uk/03-numbers.php) enable charities to smarten up the way they deal with calls. As with all non-geographic numbers (0845 numbers, 0800 numbers etc.), call management systems enable charities to answer more calls and become more efficient. E.g. Introduction messages “Welcome to Comic Relief” and caller options, e.g. “press 1 to donate, press 2 for more information about our charity” etc.
4. Charities can phase in 03 numbers as they wish.
03 numbers work in tandem with organisations’ existing landline or mobile numbers. They simply ‘sit on top of’ and are directed to their chosen ‘destination number’, allowing them to use and integrate them as you wish at a time that is convenient to them.5. 0300 numbers are made especially for charities.
The 03 number range is split into three types and 0300 numbers can only be used by charities and public bodies. This means that callers can instantly recognise the type of organisation they are calling by the dialling code alone. Many charities and not-for-profit organisations are now taking advantage of the power of 03 numbers (http://www.windsor-telecom.co.uk/03-numbers.php). So alongside Comic Relief and the British Heart Foundation; Oxfam, RSPCA, Children in Need and the SSPCA are now all using them and this list is sure to increase in the forthcoming months.

While the rest of the world has been steadily seeing increases in their number of residents who have Internet access, Europe is one of the leaders in the statistics. As more individuals continue to use the Internet, more telecom vacancies will be available for new workers who are eager to do their part to fill these European jobs and to keep the continent far ahead of the rest of the world.
Telecom vacancies in the Internet fields have grown as more people, businesses, and educational facilities go online. In 2007, statistics showed that nearly 50% of the population of Europe was already using the Internet that was comparable to just under 20% for the rest of the world. Only North America with 73% and Australia with nearly 60% rank higher. However, more European jobs are opening in the telecom industry to meet the growing demand for more Internet infrastructure, particularly high-speed infrastructure.
Of course, the telecom vacancies in the Internet field vary from country to country. Germany leads the rest with nearly 60% of its population having Internet access. That’s compared to Portugal with less than 10% of its population having online access. Clearly, that means if you’re looking for telecom vacancies in these fields you can expect the largest growth to be in countries such as Portugal, Poland, and the Netherlands which are working to catch up with the number of telecommunication European jobs in countries like Germany, the United Kingdom, and France.
Recent statistics have shown that some other areas are likely to have a large number of European jobs available in telecommunication fields. Remember that a tremendous growth in Internet usage is going to require more telecom vacancies to be developed and eventually filled. Eastern European jobs in these areas are particularly growing quickly because some of those countries have since enormous increases in Internet usage. Between 2000 and 2007, Hungary, Romania, and Russia saw triple digit growth: 389%, 775%, and 848%, respectively. With those types of statistics, the European jobs in these areas should be numerous and the telecom vacancies are probably still quite high. Growth in Western Europe during the same period has also been prolific in some countries, including France, Greece, and Italy.
Finding European jobs in the telecommunication industry on the continent isn’t as difficult as you might think. Both Western and Eastern parts are continuing to see amazing changes in the industry, especially as new technology opens new doors and creates all new telecom vacancies. The challenge, however, can be in finding those telecom vacancies when they exist.
