Updating the Old Curve with the New BlackBerry Curve 3G
Filed under: Mobile Phones;Comments OffFast on the heels of its recent Blackberry OS 6.0 and the new Blackberry Torch comes the updated Curve in the new Blackberry Curve 3G 9300. Sharing the same hardware platform, dimensions, screen size, styling and QWERTY ergonomics of the older Blackberry 8520 Curve, the new Curve gets it updates with 3G, HSDPA and GPS. Aesthetically, only a chrome trim distinguishes the new from the old.
As the name suggests, the Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 is a 3G phone on the tri band UMTS with HSDPA data speeds and a quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on the 2G network. It has WiFi 802.11 b/g/v with UMA (carrier based) as well as wireless and wired local data connectivity support from Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0, respectively. With mobile phone comparison websites you can get the best deals on offer for the newest phones.
It also gets GPS and A-GPS support with Blackberry Maps preloaded.
The landscape display is a 2.5-inch TFT LCD screen with QVGA resolution and 65k color depth. Blackberry phones have never been hailed for their imaging qualities and the new Curve 3G is no different. As a nod to the camera phone trends, it humors its markets with a rudimentary 2 megapixel shooter that is as basic as you can find in any entry level handsets.
A 256 MB Ram and 256 MB ROM should takes care of the OS files but user memory is better taken with its microSD support for up to 32 GB of external memory expandability. The Blackberry Curve 3G 9300 gets 1150 mAh li-ion battery that allows as much as 5.3 hours of talk time and 19 days on standby.
The new Blackberry Curve 3G 9300, despite being the serious businessman’s phone with secure push email from its BES, it provides excellent entertainment with a 3.5 mm headphone jack on top of its wireless stereo listening from A2DP profile support. I have found that the best place to get the new BlackBerry Curve 3G is online and that it helps to compare the various deals before buying.
It still does not have any radio like all Blackberry phones but you get competent media players for popular audio and video files. You also get 29 hours of non stop music listening from its battery when fully charged.
