They do not own AT&T, but I like them. Anything British is cool; except maybe the dentistry. That accent makes them sound so smart, the birds like to drink, and the premiership is the bet sports league in the world. So, yeah, I might as well like their telecom company, too. -

Does British Telecom’s 1471 facility work to conceal your number if you dial someone in another country?
Filed under: British Telecom;1 CommentI am wanting to call someone’s mobile phone in America to wish them Happy Birthday, but I know from mutual friends that they can become pests, so will my number be hidden if I call their cell phone from my BT landline here in the UK?
I meant 141, not 1471. Sorry.
It will be hidden from their telephone, but obviously not from the network operators as they will have it recorded for billing and policing purposes (so don’t make any spoof calls)! -

BT (British Telecom) slow download speeds on bittorent during certain times of day?
Filed under: British Telecom;2 CommentsHi, I have been getting very slow download speeds between the hours of around 12pm to 12am when using bittorent clients to download stuff. After 12am i get the normal fast speeds and i cannot figure out why it is going so slow during the day. My ports are open correctly, the torrents i am using are fine and so is the bittorent client i am using, as i have tested it with my friends computer, as he is with a different ISP and he gets great speeds all day long on the same torrents i am using.
Could anyone tell me if they know what the problem is or if BT is deliberately blocking traffic during these hours for p2p programs?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Due to the tremendous traffic that BT has to deal with on the downline everyday, I would say yes, BT has blocked bittorrent ports to ease the strain on the downloading on it’s own lines. If you want a better confirmation than me, you can look at BT’s TOS and see what downloading restrictions there are
