have british telecom ever ripped you off ?
Yeah they ripped me off 20 years ago and would never go back to BT.Best thing that ever happen was when they lost their total monopoly over the UK when a law was passed that allowed Mercury, Telecential, [The fore runner of Virgin] and cable & Wireless to operate and compete with BT and use BT’s network!

Have I been ever ripped off by BT? Yes, which is why I set up a BT complaints website.
All complaints received will be put into a report and sent for investigation by Watchdog and Offcom, sent to BT for feedback and published on the website shared will all BT’s unhappy customers.
You can visit the website at http://www.btcomplaint.com -

When they were bound by the anti-competition rules (or some such thing) their pricing wasn’t very competitive, but now that’s lifted they’re pretty good.
One thing they tried to get us on was if we went over our monthly download bandwidth they would try to get us to upgrade to the next package up, but as they were only going to charge 25p per extra gigabyte we went over it really didn’t make any sense to pay an extra £10 for the same thing. Even the guy on the phone from BT said that this didn’t make any sense!

I won’t use bt internet again. I still have their landline though. I exceeded my download allocation so they cut me off and just wouldn’t give me my mac codes so that I could change internet provider. Took about 3 months before they released them.
